Conditions Treated

Coccygodynia (Tailbone pain)

The tailbone is vulnerable to trauma from falls onto the buttock, difficult childbirth, car accidents, surgery, or physical and sexual abuse.

The tailbone restrictions can be of direct articular origin (e.g. the joint itself) or of an indirect origin, (e.g. problems with ligaments and muscles that attach to the bone). A restricted tailbone may be the primary cause of intense tailbone, SI, or low back pain, and constipation. It may also contribute to bladder dysfunctions.

Symptoms may include difficulty with sitting, recurrent low back, hip, or sacroiliac pain, painful intercourse (for women), constipation, stress incontinence, and severe headaches. Other symptoms may include the inability to have an orgasm or decreased libido.
